Time Travel to Become Your Sweetheart novel Chapter 143

William parked the car in the underground garage.

He just sent Robert home, so they arrived home about 20 minutes late. Jane and Dayton were quiet. He looked at them in the rear-view mirror. They were already asleep.

William sat in the driver's seat and turned around.

He could only carry one person home at a time. To carry his wife or his son, that was a question.

Jane was sleeping quietly and soundly, breathing evenly.

A few days ago, Jane had a nightmare and unconsciously hugged his arm tightly. Only then did William realize that these incidents actually affected her.

But Jane did not want to show the white feather and kept it to herself.

"Darling?"

Jane slowly opened her eyes. She looked around and found herself still in the car.

"How long have I been asleep? Why not wake me up?"

She glanced at her watch. It was one o'clock in the morning. Jane rubbed her eyes, completely awake.

"I was thinking. Should I carry you home first or Dayton?"

It was difficult to carry two at the same time. William could only hold one at a time.

"Then what's your answer?"

Needless to say, he would carry Dayton first, because it was dangerous to leave sleeping Dayton alone in the car.

"It's hard to make a choice, so I can only wait until any of you wake up."

William said in a relaxed tone. He unbuckled his seat belt and got off the car.

If he had to choose, he would first wake Dayton up, and then he carried Jane home. That was perfect.

"Alright."

Jane was stunned. She opened the car door and said, "You don't need to wait. Wake me up, and we go home with Dayton."

William did not reply. He held Dayton in his arm and walked into the elevator holding Jane's hand.

William had never expected that they would lead an easy and simple life. He did not like Jane at all before.

Everything had changed in two months.

"Darling, am I very rude today?"

Jane was nervous. She thought Robert creepy and threw him over her shoulder. Robert fell heavily at that time.

Elyse was her assistant, and Robert played a great part in treating Colin. Although it was a misunderstanding, she felt sorry.

"It doesn't matter. He is dressed in black like a crow. It is not your fault."

He was dressed in black at midnight and wearing a black hat. It was easy to see him as a bad guy.

William was actually gloating over him.

Robert had frightened his wife, so he deserved the shoulder throw.

William was also happy that Jane was safety-conscious.

The elevator ascended rapidly. Suddenly, the light above flashed and sparked. Then the light went off and the elevator was plunged into darkness.

They heard something crackle as the elevator stopped. Then it abruptly descended rapidly.

"Dayton!"

Jane immediately pounced on Dayton and held him in her arms.

Soon the emergency gear worked and the elevator stopped.

They were in the pitch dark.

"Darling, are you OK?"

Jane was very anxious. She stretched her hands forward, seeking William.

She felt claustrophobic and was not used to the dark. She got a lot on her mind and the memories of the kidnapping were brought back.

"I'm fine."

William reached out and held Jane's hand tightly in the dark, giving her warmth.

The emergency button did not work, and the phone was not in service.

"Be prepared for the worst. We may have to spend the night here."

The battery of William's phone was running down, and Jane's was left in the car.

The little battery power made Jane think of the little match girl. After the last light went off, she would be thrown into darkness.

"Darling, turn off the flash. I'm not afraid."

Jane shook her head. If the phone was luckily in service later, they could ask for help on it.

The elevator broke down suddenly. It did not seem like an emergency. It should be caused by a widespread blackout.

"I am right beside you."

William turned off the phone and took a deep breath. He took off his coat and draped it around Jane.

There was cold air in the elevator, so it was easy to catch a cold if they stayed here for a night.

"Thanks."

Jane felt relieved by the faint smell of mint on the coat. William sat on the ground to save his strength, holding Dayton in his arms.

"Darling, we are unlucky."

They were in complete darkness. Jane leaned against William, feeling his warmth.

Dayton had yet to wake up and was sleeping soundly.

Sure enough, he was still a child.

"Don't worry."

William was calm and seemed not panicked at all. They leaned against the wall at the back in case that the elevator would fall again.

They did not speak. Jane leaned against William's chest and listened to his steady heartbeat.

Dayton muttered in sleep.

He was now in an uneasy sleep and suddenly moved.

Jane touched Dayton's little hand. It was cold.

She took off her down jacket, covered Dayton with it, and covered Dayton's legs with her scarf.

At five o'clock in the morning, the electricity was restored. But the elevator had broken down, so they needed to wait until it was repaired.

They finally came out at seven.

William still looked tidy, his eyes cold.

There should be an emergency plan for a blackout in such a premium apartment building. It was outrageous that the owners were trapped in the elevator for a few hours.

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."

The security guard apologized constantly. The widespread outage in the early morning was an emergency. There was originally a set of generators here, but they were borrowed a few days ago and were not returned on time.

"No excuse for that."

William closed the elevator doors, ignoring those who wanted to explain.

After they got home, Jane went into the bathroom to bathe.

Three sneezes sounded.

She felt a little uncomfortable.

After taking a bath, she felt sick with wet hair.

"Mommy, did you catch a cold?"

Dayton had a good sleep and did not find anything wrong. When he woke up in the morning, he found that he was covered with Jane's clothes and scarf.

It was very cold last night. He blamed himself when thinking that his mommy must have caught a cold after taking off the clothes.

"Dayton, mommy doesn't have a cold. Mommy is fine."

Jane was dizzy, but she wanted to be strong for Dayton. So she comforted Dayton.

"Come here."

William's tone was slightly cold. She didn't take care of herself at all.

Dayton had been dressed in warm clothes and was sleeping in his arms. He would be fine. But Jane gave her clothes to Dayton and was cold for a night.

The elevator was too dark, so he did not notice at all.

"Alright."

Jane sat obediently on the sofa and resisted the urge to sneeze. She softly leaned on William's chest, waiting for him to dry her hair.

William sighed to himself. Jane did not care about her health, but after all, she covered Dayton with her clothes because she was concerned about him.
