Time Travel to Become Your Sweetheart novel Chapter 160

The flashlight on the cellphone was too dim, but it could only illuminate the surroundings for half a meter. Robert was looking for someone in the living room.

There was a box on the coffee table.

Inside the box was another dead animal, which made Robert feel horrible.

"Hey, hey, wake up!"

Finally, Robert found Pearl in a corner of the wall. She crouched down and encircled herself with both arms. She looked insecure.

Pearl shivered and slowly opened her eyes.

Not long ago, after the lights went off, she heard that someone tried to break into the house!

However, the phone suddenly ran out of battery. She dared not to move, for it was too dark around her!

After a few minutes, the sound died away.

Pearl was still afraid. She turned around and fainted at the sight of the cat's eyes.

"Miss Rich, Mrs. Duncan asked me to come over and check what has happened, so I opened the door and came in."

Robert explained. First, he was not a gate-crasher. He came for a reason.

"Alright."

Pearl suddenly held Robert, almost making him fall to the ground.

Robert wanted to push her away, but Pearl held him even tighter.

No one knew how scared, perplexed, and helpless she was in the dark.

Right now, Robert was a silver lining for her. Only when someone stayed with her, would she not be afraid.

"You, what are you doing!"

Although Robert was a doctor, he spent most of his time studying. It was the first time that a girl threw herself at him.

He could smell the perfume on her and feel the softness of her breasts.

Robert stiffened, not daring to move.

Truly, he felt smothered by this beautiful lady's enthusiasm.

"Let me tell you, don't blame me for this and ask me to take responsibility."

"You were the one who took the initiative, not me!" Robert was so nervous that he was sweating.

"Don't leave me, okay?"

Pearl threw herself into Robert's arms. She was no longer as tough as before. She was truly scared.

Especially when she heard in the dark that someone tried to break into the house.

She didn't live in this country. Her family ran a diamond business, and didn't offend anyone. Who could it be that retaliate against her like this?

Pearl did not know. She was in a mess.

If she had not called Jane, she would not have known what to do.

Who was it that took revenge on her in such a manner!

"Robert, I ... I'm scared."

Pearl calmed herself down and said in a low voice, "Thank you."

It was time to reply to Jane and tell her not to worry and to sleep early.

"Yes."

Robert sighed deeply. He didn't expect that this little tyrant could be this fragile.

However, the person who put the dead cat and dog here was too malicious.

"You said there are also dead animals outside the door?"

Pearl had just sat on the bed in the bedroom, and almost fell to the ground. She asked Robert to hold her.

If she couldn't see him, she must feel his presence.

"A dismembered dead dog."

Robert said in a disdainful tone.

The person who sent the things should not be a doctor, or at least he did not have tools in his hands. He did all these with axes or kitchen knives.

Was it a warning or a threat?

Perhaps both.

"Have you offended someone?"

Robert wanted to mock Pearl, but he gave up that plan when he felt Pearl's mild attitude.

Taking advantage of someone when they were vulnerable is not a gentleman's character.

"I ... don't know."

Pearl shook her head. She had just returned to her motherland for around a month and participated in only two or three social gatherings.

However, she truly had offended a person.

"Who is it?"

Robert rubbed his chin. He knew that this girl must have offended someone.

"You."

Pearl said carefully. Robert was the only one that she had offended.

"Me?"

Robert didn't know how to respond. If it was him, he would not use such dirty tricks.

At least he was a doctor, who should save lives, not kill people.

Although he was not a vet, he wouldn't torture small animals to death.

Look how smooth the furs of the cats and dogs were. These animals should have no disease when they were alive.

"Then I really don't know who else I offended."

Robert was a friend of William, and could be trusted. Pearl did not hide it from him.

She really didn't know who she had offended.

"Even though it's true. But isn't it easy for you to offend someone with your words?"

Robert said thoughtfully, "I'm broad-minded, and the only one who will forgive you."

Pearl didn't say a word. She sat up and threw herself into Robert's arms again.

Robert didn't know what to say.

Why she did that again? It was dark. Although Pearl was not a stunner, she was still a woman. Who could control himself when a woman took the initiative!

"Don't have any wicked ideas. You're a doctor, and I'm the patient."

Pearl grabbed Robert so tight, as if she was afraid that Robert would run away when she let loose.

Facing the darkness along for a long time, she had no courage.

The wind was howling like ghosts and wolves outside the window, sending a chill down her spine. The winter night was intolerably long.

"I'm going out for a while."

Robert could not bear it, and gently patted Pearl on the back.

"No!"

He was not allowed to go. He was not allowed to go anywhere. He should just stay here and accompany her!

Pearl pressed her head against Robert's chest and listened to his heartbeat. Only then did she felt that she was not alone.

"I'll go out to deal with the dead dog and cat outside."

He could not bear the smell of blood inside the house.

The window was closed, and her house was airtight. But he was a doctor, who was too sensitive to this smell.

"No!"

Pearl hugged Robert's waist. Since the power went off. But at least she could open the window!

"It's piercing cold outside. Are you sure you want to open the window?"

Robert shook his head, and suggested that Pearl follow him.

There was no emergency lighting equipment at home, but Pearl found a few candles.

They were scented candles, which were sent freely to her when she bought scented oil.

The candle sent out a mild lavender smell, dissipating the smell of blood in the air. With the candlelight, Pearl was not that scared anymore.

She went to the living room, watching Robert throw the things outside the door. She felt completely relieved.

"This note is left in the box. If you don't look carefully, you won't be able to see it."

Robert took out a blood-stained note, with a pair of rubber gloves on his hands.

When the note was opened, there were a few words written on it, "Blood for Blood."

The red ink looked like it was written in blood.

"A debt of blood, have you killed or harmed someone?"

Robert unfolded the note for Pearl to read.

Pearl looked at Robert in a trance. Only then did she find that he was tall and quite handsome.

There was a saying, "A refined rascal." But it took time to prove it.

However, she did not have a good impression of doctors.

"No, I am sure."

Pearl came back to her senses and shook her head, suspecting that someone had sent this to the wrong place.

If she was that capable, she would not have dropped out of the aristocratic school and left dejectedly.

All these years, she had been struggling with depression. Nobody knew how many times she had committed suicide.

Pearl rolled up her sleeves, and her wrist was full of scars.

"I committed suicide a few times, probably four or five times."

When she suffered from depression with the most severe symptom, she only wanted to die.
