Trapped with a Lawyer novel Chapter 129

"Ella, please don't blame me. Just as I would never blame you for that night.

Don't you remember that you said you wished I'd listen to you more? I promise you, I will. And I'll be better to you after we take care of this. I'll do whatever you want me to.

Ella, I love you..."

Samuel mumbled in her ears softly until he heard her steady breath. Then he got out of the bed and tucked Ella in before leaving the nursery room.

Ella was pretending to be in sound sleep, and as soon as Samuel left, she opened her eyes.

There was both sorrow and hatred oozing from her eyes in the dark.

She hated Samuel for choosing not to believe her.

They had their ups and downs before, and she didn't care to fuss about them, for they were all trifles. However, he had turned his back on her on such an important matter.

What else could she say or do? To find Sum to help prove her innocence?

That would never work. Ella knew if she involved Sum, Samuel would only knock him down the minute he saw him. And by doing that, Samuel would be convinced that Sum was the real father of the baby inside her.

To say the least, even if Ella really had been raped, how could Samuel be sure that she got pregnant on that night?

All in all, it went back to the original point. Maybe deep down he just didn't love her.

Maybe he loved Emma or Catherine, but clearly not her.

Ella's tears began to fall, yet again, and soon left nothing but water stains on her pillow.

She then thought to herself, 'Samuel, you are such a disappointment.'

In the study.

Standing motionlessly in front of the window, Samuel dialed a number on his phone.

"Sam." Chuck had just taken off his overalls after finishing a surgery. And there was another one waiting for him in a few minutes. He was taking a break in between when Samuel called.

"Chuck, do you have any time tomorrow?" Now that they had decided to have the abortion. The sooner they got it done, the better.

Chuck then reviewed his schedule in mind. He did have time in the afternoon, but he had promised someone to go shopping with her.

"What's the matter?" But Samuel wouldn't just call him for nothing. So Chuck decided to hear Samuel out first before making any further decisions.

Samuel fell silent. Instead of answering Chuck, he took the packet of cigarettes out of his pocket, put one into his mouth and lit it.

After taking a draw on his cigarette, Samuel then said, "I want you to arrange a surgery for Ella."

Chuck paused in surprise, "For Ella? What's going on with her? Is she not feeling well?" Chuck was quite sure that he had never heard of Ella being sick lately.

Samuel exhaled the smoke and took another hard draw silently to calm himself down, "She's pregnant. Six weeks. So the conception was last month when she was kidnapped."

Neither of them said anything to break the awkward silence.

Chuck had seen how badly Ella looked when she was sent to the hospital. Even he couldn't say for sure that whether she was hurt or not.

"So you suspect it might not be yours?"

Outside the window, snow was swirling through the air. It was the first sight of snow in that year.

However, no one was in the mood to enjoy the delicateness and prettiness of the first snow of that winter, Including Daisy, who had just found the divorce papers in one of the drawers in Chuck's apartment. And it was already signed. She was still trying to recover from the shock.

"Yes. It's fifty-fifty. But I can't take the risk and let her keep this baby."

Holding the cigarette with his index and middle finger, Samuel stopped and stared at the burning end of his cigarette in the dark.

"Did Ella agree with you?" Chuck sighed and asked about Ella. He knew Samuel did have a point.

Thinking of how uncommonly accommodating Ella was at the end of their last conversation, Samuel wasn't sure what she was really thinking about. Then he said, "Yes... I'll bring her to the hospital tomorrow."

"Fine. Two in the afternoon, I'll be here for you. But Samuel, are you really sure about this?" Chuck knew what Samuel meant by saying it was fifty-fifty. Samuel showed up at the last minute and helped Ella with the drug that night.

Samuel stood in front of the window and was lost in his own thoughts for a long while after hanging up the phone and stubbing out the cigarette.

He didn't go to work at his company the next morning and spent the whole morning home with Ella.

Ella was lying still on the bed and staring blankly when Samuel got out of his study and walked into the bedroom.

He carried Ella up to the bathroom.

He brushed her teeth and washed her face. Leaning against Samuel, Ella was like a lifeless doll that could say nothing and do nothing on her own.

Samuel then changed her clothes and took her downstairs for breakfast.

Ella ate slowly since she had no appetite at all. She simply chewed her food and swallowed it dully.

It had already passed ten after they finished breakfast. Samuel then took Ella back to the second floor.

In the bedroom.

Ella sat silently on the couch and played games on her cellphone.

Samuel pulled her into his arms and made her sit on his thighs.

He tried to console her, "Ella, come on. Don't be sad." He knew exactly how Ella felt at the moment. It must be hard for her. After all, no mother would like the idea of getting rid of her own baby. But he wanted to be selfish even just for once. He couldn't bear that Ella was carrying someone else's child.

He knew Ella was a lively woman. And now she was too quiet. She was actually more silent than those days when she was with Jerry. And it scared Samuel...

Ella placed her head docilely on his shoulder. She remembered how much she wanted him to hold her like that...

But as her wish was finally granted, she also saw the truth. He could give her his shoulder, but he would never give her his love.

She had become damaged goods to him. He had been so good to her recently except the fact that he didn't want the baby inside her. Should she laugh out loud or just cry bitterly?

Gently clenching her delicate jaw, Samuel forced Ella to look at him.

She was so close to him.

Samuel couldn't help leaning forward. And he kissed her tenderly on her rosy lips over and over again. He was lost in her sweetness and longing for more.

Ella threw her arms around Samuel's neck and kissed him back, which made him almost lose control of himself again.

After lunch.

Samuel helped Ella change into boots and took her out of the villa.

Ella was waiting at the doorway while Samuel went to the garage and brought over the vehicle.

It was cold outside. There was a small snow storm last night, and the snow began to fall from the sky again while she was waiting.

The snowflakes fell on Ella's white coat and soon disappeared.

The Porsche stopped right in front her while she was in a trance. Hardly had she reached for the door when Samuel got out of the car, opened the door of passenger's side for Ella and carried her into the car.

He buckled her seat belt carefully and lay a tender kiss on her forehead before he hopped back in the driver's seat.

He was so gentle to her. Ella didn't dare to dream it that he could be like this, even in her wildest dreams before that day. To prevent Samuel from noticing her tears, Ella turned sideways and looked out of the window.

Samuel had done everything he could think of for Ella. And he did them because he wanted Ella to get rid of the baby.

The truth had made his behaviors seemed rather ironic to Ella.

Both of them remained silent along the way. And about twenty minutes later, Samuel's car stopped in front of Chuck's hospital.

Though she had been there a few times, Ella never took a serious look on the hospital. It was quite natural since hardly no one enjoyed hospital. And Ella wouldn't plan to waste her time on something she was completely not interested in.

But this time Ella felt totally different from any other time she had been there.

Chuck's hospital was the best among all across C Country. Located in downtown, it covered an area of about 100 acres with more than 3000 beds.

There were noted experts and professors in every department. And Chuck spared no money in decorating.

Chuck was an obsessive-compulsive neat freak who was obsessed with the sanitary regulations. Therefore, his hospital was by far the cleanest and well-decorated hospital across C Country.

Staring at the building, that had more than thirty stories, Ella was in a daze. She murmured, "Samuel, I don't want to go inside."

For the last time, she unfastened her seat belt and threw herself into Samuel's arms, begging, "Samuel, please. I don't want to do this!"

She sounded so weak and fragile that Samuel's heart began aching once again.
