Uncontrollable Fondness novel Chapter 51

Though the contract was for only a year and she will go back to the city after a year, she felt uneasy whenever she thought about how difficult it was for the children. The kids in the city enjoyed the high technology times while the kids in the village still had to struggle for the chance to study even at the expense of their health. What can she do about this?

This Hope primary school was rather large. It can accommodate the children of eight villages but they didn’t have a dorm nor a canteen. Some of the children had to travel tens of kilometers every day to attend school.

After dinner, Mia went to the principal’s office and mentioned the issue.

The principal pondered for a while and with an embarrassed expression, “When the school was built, these features were considered. But then the allocated money wasn’t enough and the matter wasn’t pursued. To add on a canteen and dorm would need a significant amount of money. Where can we find this amount of money?”

Mia clenched her teeth for a while before finding the courage to ask, “Roughly how much money?”

“About a million.”

She regretted that she didn’t take her card along. The million-plus that William gave was in that card. It was enough to build a canteen and a dorm for the kids. At that time she felt that money was meaningless to her and that’s why she left it at the hospital.

Sigh…

But the kids’ difficulty needed a solution.

Mia thought for a while and then tried a suggestion, “Perhaps we can go online to seek some donations. Perhaps it will work.”

The principal didn’t know the internet. She knew that she couldn’t explain properly and simply said, “No matter what, let me try it out.”

Agree.

William and James sat on the reclining chair enjoying the massage. Each had a glass of red wine and drank as they chatted.

“How are things between you and Sophia?”

James asked nonchalantly as he took a sip of wine.

Eyebrows slightly raised and with a sip of wine, William replied emotionlessly, “As usual, not bad.”

“Not bad, why did Sophia cry yesterday?” James didn’t believe, frowned, and looked sternly at William, “Did you bully her?”

“No.” He looked into the glass and twirled the wine within. His expression becomes gloomy. Yesterday Sophia mentioned again about having a baby and seduced him only to be rejected by him.

In these three months, Sophia had always been very proactive but he didn’t feel anything.

“Both of you haven’t had relations in bed yet, have you?” The image of Sophia crying with a tear-soaked face flashed across James’ mind. James was furious. If she wasn’t drunk, he wouldn’t have known about this.

He smiled awkwardly and drank the entire glass of wine. That was considered an admission.

“Are you still thinking of Mia?” James was agitated and asked. William didn’t answer.

In these three months, he didn’t touch Sophia nor did he touch other women. Although he started to hurt when his desires were pent up but he still wasn’t willing to simply find someone to satisfy him. He yearned for the feeling of Mia’s body and more so her shyness and coy demeanor. It was as if he was poisoned. Even he was unsure of what was happening to him.

“William, if you don’t love Sophia, then release her early!” James said angrily as he drank the entire glass of wine. His expression of disdain was covering the pain in his heart. From the first time he met Sophia, he was fated to be her protector. Guarding her but unable to touch her through all these years.

Last night he revealed his feelings to Sophia, that he loved her and had always loved her.

Sophia slapped him and stumbled far away but he didn’t chase after her. He just followed behind until she arrived home safely.

If Sophia was living in blissful happiness, he may let go but then Sophia wasn’t having a good life.

William angrily flung the wine glass onto the wall and it shattered with a sharp smash scaring the masseuse to scream. She backed away not daring to approach him.

He stood up and straightened his clothes. William then forcibly glared at James and shouted, “What goes on between Sophia and I is none of your business!” He turned and left in a fury.

He went into his car in anger and grabbed firmly his hair. William was unsure why he was so furious. Was it because James blamed him for not caring about Sophia and interfered with his family matters that caused him to be angry?

He grabbed the steering wheel strongly until the veins on his hand started to protrude. His nails turned white, his jaw clenched firmly and his brain felt as if it was split open. All the suppressed memories of Mia began to pour out.

“Damn it!” He stepped down hard on the accelerator and the car took off. He used the thrill of reckless driving to forget Mia’s image.

He drove anxiously back home and as soon as he got out of the car, Sophia’s dainty beautiful face came out to welcome him. She lunged into his embrace, “William dear, you’re finally back. I thought that you were angry and didn’t want to come back.”

Looking at her smooth silky hair, William hugged her and forcibly suppressed his frustrations and said lovingly, “How could I? Why would I be angry with you?”
