Worship The Ground You Walk On novel Chapter 55

The Crawfords always did as they said.

The day Winifred mentioned divorce was the day she kicked Claudia out of the house.

Claudia had nothing to carry but some luggage.

Winifred would never let her take Conrad.

She said she would talk about the custody and alimony with Claudia later, after the divorce papers were signed.

When Kim drove over, she saw Claudia standing by the roadside, alone, with a white suitcase standing beside her.

“Oh my god!”

Kim gasped and pulled over. She helped Claudia put the luggage in the trunk. Claudia then got into the car.

Kim held Claudia's hand in the car. She looked at Claudia with great concern in her eyes, “What’s going on?”

Claudia shook her head. She didn't even know where to start.

She didn't know how to explain.

The only thing she knew was Hanna's message, which told her that the old house would be auctioned soon, and asked her to call her back as soon as possible.

However, when she called back, Hanna didn’t answer. She hadn't reply till now.

Ben picked her apart, and Winifred took her anger out on her. Then she was driven out of the family.

She sat there dumbly and said. She had tried so hard to save this marriage, but nothing was left now.

She loved the man for over a decade, and he gave her nothing.

Her heart hurt like crumbled. The pain was so sharp that after a while, her heart went numb, and she couldn't do anything anymore.

Kim took a deep breath and tried her best to talk Claudia out of depression. It had taken her quite a while to know what had happened.

As soon as she knew the full picture, the flames of anger sparkled and blazed. Her blood was surging in her veins.

Kim drove Claudia back to her apartment and helped her to settle down. After Claudia got freshen up, she made up an excuse that she went out to grab some food. Then she drove back to the Crawford Family's house.

She had to try very hard to hold back her anger when she was ringing the doorbell. She told herself that she wouldn't be rash, and would talk to these people nicely.

However, as soon as the housekeeper let her in, she saw Winifred sitting on the sofa gracefully, with the superior gaze and postures like a queen.

Winifred looked up at Kim with disdain in her eyes, asking, “Are you here to stand up for Claudia, or just pick up her stuff.”

Before Kim answered, Winifred continued, “You don't have to sweet-talk me. We deserve a better daughter-in-law like that. If you're here to grab her things, just go upstairs with the housekeeper.”

Winifred's indication was obvious. She was using this incident to trigger Ben and Claudia's divorce. She couldn't wait to get rid of the pain in her neck and save the family's reputation. At the same time, she could also have her grandson with her. In that way, she could get many things done in one go.

Kim looked at her and grinned a disdainful smile. She approached Winifred slowly until she stood right in front of her.

“Judging by your age, I should call you Aunt Crawford, right?”

That was a good start. It sounded kind, which meant that she hadn't lost control.

Winifred frowned and looked at her.

“When you're a senior at that age, you should act like one! Think twice before you speak or do things! It was their marriage, so it should be their decision to make! It has nothing to do with you if they'll continue this relationship or not! You're in no position to intervene!”

Kim had excellent eloquence. That was what she relied on to have done so well in the sales department of the company. This was a great opportunity to put her profession to practical use.

Before Winifred could argue, she continued:

“And... what on earth has Claudia done wrong? Hanna did have lost her company to save the old house, but that's between her and Claudia. It's none of your business, either!”

“Hanna was Ben's ex, and now she has got into your son's marriage. Do you feel ashamed for that as a senior in this family? If this gets out, it would definitely ruin your family reputation.”

“If you really feel sorry for Hanna's loss of her company, you can always help her with your money. Your family is famous for being well-informed, I think you've known the auction of the old house a long time ago.”

In other words, the Crawfords had known the auction in advance, but they decided not to buy it for Claudia.

The more Kim thought about it, the more bitterly disappointed she was.

She finally knew that it was all part of Winifred's plan of the divorce. She must have plotted this for quite a while now.

Kim's mouth shot those words at Winifred like a machine gun. As angry as Winifred was, she didn't even have the chance to interrupt her. Winifred is looking more and more upset.

“I know you don't like Claudia, but she had no real family in the Evans. No one would stand up for her when she's bullied. The Crawford Family is big and honored, don't you feel ashamed to bully such a poor woman?”

Kim became furious when she knew Claudia was being bullied.

They had been best friends since they were young, and she had never seen Claudia be humiliated like this.

Driving her out of the family? How could Winifred do that?

“I will warn you one last time, you should send someone to pick up Claudia in my place in three days, at most. Or we'll see what will happen when all these are leaked to the press!”

“Now that you don't give a damn about your reputation, what do I care? I don't even have a family reputation to lose!”

Her words were a bit harsh, while she put it in such a rational and polite manner. Everything was in control.

At last, she smiled and turned away, leaving Winifred looking at her with cold and sullen eyes.

She had really stood out for Claudia. Kim felt this wasn't enough yet, so she drove to the Crawford Group.

As soon as she pulled over, and before she got off the car, she saw Ben walking out of the revolving door. He was followed by quite many people, like a rock star coming out of a hotel.

It was very easy to notice him among those people. The tall figure and handsome face make him hard to be ignored.

However, the most garish one there today was the woman next to him.

Hanna was wearing a light-colored suit, which accentuated the perfect curve of her body. She looked shy and sophisticated, which was the type that most men would admire.

She suddenly twisted her ankle on her high heels. As she was about to fall to the ground, Ben held her.

The interaction was simple, but it felt very subtle and intimated because the two's gazes had crossed. Seeing this scene, Kim took out her phone and captured what was happening.

She grinned a wicked smile and got out of the car.

“Ben!”

The shrill sound of a woman made Ben paused. He turned aside and saw Kim walking over.

She showed him the phone in her hand, and then she looked at them. As she walked closer, she said, “Well played, Mr. Crawford. Getting back to your ex as soon as you kicked your wife out of the house? That must be fun! But what if it gets out to the public? Aren't you afraid?”

Kim's words were sharp. She didn't care if those people in suits would hear this. Her harsh and ruthless words stabbed him like a poisoned knife.

Ben's pupils almost shrank immediately. He asked coldly, “What are you talking about?”

Hanna asked, “Miss. Moe, what do you mean by 'kicked out of the house’?”
