Worship The Ground You Walk On novel Chapter 76

When the argument was over, Simon introduced the lady by his side to them, “This is my fiancée, Christine.”

The lady looked much calmer than before and said, “I’m so sorry about what just happened, Miss Crawford. I didn’t know you couldn’t speak.”

Claudia didn’t take that argument seriously but was confused about Ben’s reaction. They were just drinking and talking about business, which was really awkward for a mute like her to stay with them.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

She seldom received a call and the reason was simple: nobody expected a mute to talk on the phone.

She took a look at the screen and walked away after making an apology in sign language.

She tried to avoid those who were familiar with her and picked up the call outside, but she ignored the tall figure behind her.

When Ben noticed the name shown on Claudia’s phone was Marshall Cooper, he scowled.

Out of the hotel, the cool breeze was stroking Claudia’s face restfully.

She was watching the bustling street and taking the call. It was Marshall on the other side of the phone.

“Have you made up your mind to cure your throat problem?”

She didn’t know that Marshall was just got out of surgery. He saw her message and then called her immediately without changing his clothes.

At that moment, he had a mix of feelings.

He was glad and worried about it.

What made him glad was that she finally decided to cure her throat problem. After all, she wasn’t born to be mute. It was the severe damage on the vocal cords caused in her childhood that made her tongueless for so many years.

But he was worried that she only did it in a fit of pique and became reluctant when the treatment was about to start.

“Are you sure? Once you decide to accept the treatment, you can never go back.”

Hearing his words, she sighed slightly and smiled. It was always good to know someone cared about you.

It was not about love or kinship, but it just made you feel warm.

“How about sending Yes if you decide to take the treatment, Claudia?” Marshall said.

Claudia smiled again. Her smile was peaceful and attractive, like a traditional painting.

But it didn’t last long.

Soon she felt that she was under a long, sloping shadow, and then the phone on her hand was jerked by a powerful strength.

Ben suddenly appeared behind her and put her phone to his ear, “Dr. Cooper, what makes you call my wife at late night? Is it something urgent?”

Marshall was surprised.

Claudia turned around and looked at him in astonishment. She reached out her hands hurriedly, trying to take the phone back.

But Ben was much taller than her. She couldn’t touch the phone even if she stood on tip-toe.

Claudia stared at him worriedly. She went red in her face and bite her underlip like an aggrieved rabbit.

Her worried expression, a mixture of sulk and anxiety which considered to be cute to him, then came into his sight, and a strange feeling followed suddenly rushed into his mind.

And right at this moment, Marshall’s voice came out from the phone.

“Mr. Carwford?” Marshall recognized his voice, “No, nothing. Have a good night.”

Marshall’s voice turned cold as he realized that it was Ben speaking and hung up the phone.

Playing with her phone with his hand, Ben remained calm, and seconds later he turned to look at her with his sharp eyes, “What were you talking about?”

It was none of your business!

Claudia frowned and took back her phone from him.

But Ben came up close to her and grabbed her shoulder, “Watch your attitude. I’m talking with you!”

She looked into his angry eyes, feeling ridiculous. Why could he blame her as he never consider her thoughts when he got alone with Hanna every day?

Was that a double standard?

This man was so peremptory!

She shook him off and was about to get back to the hotel, but her arm was firmly grasped by him.

Just a little bit of his force with which he easily dragged Claudia into his arms.

His eyes was as deep as an endless abyss where she could find no trace of what he was thinking, and what followed was his forcefully voice amid her mind wandering, “Go home!”

He finally made his decision, coldly and released her.

Before Claudia knew what was going on, a suit jacket was thrown around her shoulder. She could feel the exquisite details of the jacket and was almost enveloped by the smell of tobacco and perfume, which was a unique scent of him as she took a full sniff.

When she went back to the villa with him, it was already eleven at night.

The steward and nanny were in their dreamland, so was Conrad.

Claudia tucked him up and walked out of the baby room lightly. Once she closed the door, she was aware of the heat approaching on her back.

Ben held her thin waist in his arms and pinched her jaw, kissing her in an aggressive way.

He had always been like this. He did it when he wanted to and was never restrained.

But Claudia knew this was nothing about love. In his words, it was just the normal, physical demand that couples would have, which drove them in their mind, like a duty.

He was so strong and powerful that sometimes she felt she couldn’t stand it. She felt breathless, invisibly restrained as he blocked her lips with his until she was finally released as she was almost suffocated.

Ben stared at her red full lips and then moved his eyes to scan an inch of her face, like a deadly hunter appreciating his prey.

Claudia’s heartbeat was accelerating. She was watching him with her clear, innocent eyes.

They met each other’s eyes, wordlessly, and in a moment, their warm breath mixed up, exchanging.

Ben raised his lips and smiled.

In a second, he scooped Claudia up in his arms and walked into the bedroom directly.

If his memory served, Claudia was born with an excellent logical capability.

She was so good at arithmetic that she could solve a question from Mathematical Olympiad in a minute, and won the title of ‘Genius’ in this circle.

And he always preferred the smart person most.

Besides, he had gotten along with her since they were children. Though he hadn’t fallen in with her, he still had had some special feelings towards her.

Ben was pleased and pounded her much faster. He was going to unleash all of his desire into her depth tonight.
