Worship The Ground You Walk On novel Chapter 82

When she went back to the mansion, it was over 8 pm.

Claudia was surprised once she stepped into the living room.

Ben came back home early, and instead of working hard in the study, he was sitting on the sofa leisurely with his legs crossed and watching the boring TV show.

“Where did you go? What took you so long?”

He talked to her in a cold voice, but his questions surprised Claudia again. When did he start to care about her trip?

She walked to him and explained in gestures, “Just hung out with Kim downtown.”

She didn’t intend to tell him about the treatment right now.

She must go through this in secret rather than letting the Evans family know.

Ben was still watching the TV with his slender hand holding the controller. Unlike being offish in the day, he looked much more restful and lazy at now.

Later, Claudia took off her jacket and was about to go upstairs, but then she saw the nanny was walking down with a suitcase in her hand.

“I put your clothes together with Mr. Crawford’s so that you only need to carry one suitcase!”

Claudia was puzzled. What did you mean?

“Mr. Crawford says he is going to France with you tonight, so I prepare the luggage for you,” the nanny explained smiley.

France?

Tonight?

With me?

Claudia was stunned. They didn’t go traveling even on their honeymoon. What was Ben thinking now?

Her first thought was that he was going to set up some traps for her.

Anyway, the trip was probably not good for her as she predicted.

Ben glanced at the suitcase coldly and checked the time, then he stood up and walked to her, “The K Group invites us to have a dinner party and talk about the business.”

It was for business.

She was relieved but also disappointed.

But soon she started to think about Conrad. The trip was going to take at least 3 to 4 days, or even more. What about the kid?

She shook her head immediately. But before she could express her idea, the front door was opened.

And then, the voice of Winifred appeared.

“Conrad, your grandma is here!”

The nanny went to give her a warm welcome, “Good evening, madam. The young master was sleeping upstairs.”

Winifred changed her shoes and said, “Don’t you worry Ben, I’ll take care of Conrad.”

Claudia was in a blank, but Ben just took a suit jacket and grabbed her out.

She struggled to get her arm free. She wanted to change her clothes and look at the child, but he didn’t give her the chance!

Her arm was still tightly grasped by him.

When she was passing by Winifred, Winifred warned her coldly, “Behave yourself when you are abroad! Don’t give trouble to Ben!”

Then, she paused and added, “Why does he bring this shameful mute to France? Hanna is much better!”

Though she said it in a low voice, Claudia still heard it and felt heartache.

Ben didn’t say anything but walked faster. Soon, they went out of the mansion.

The car was waiting for them on the side of the road, and the luggage was loaded on the car by the steward. They got in the car and headed to the airport.

After having over ten hours on the flight, they arrived in Paris in the afternoon.

The dinner party would be held in several hours. Claudia had been sleeping on the plane, but she still had jet lag and felt sleepy. Anyway, she was going to accompany Ben to the party.

In the banquets laced with toasts and songs.

It was nothing different from the party at home, but Claudia had never gotten used to it. She only wanted to fill her stomach in the buffet area.

Possibly because she hadn’t eaten anything on the plane, she was caught by a stomachache. The pain was becoming more and more acute, but she was still enduring it.

She wanted to go to the buffet area, but Ben didn’t let her go and passed a cup of cocktail to her.

Claudia took it with a reluctant look.

Simon, the president of the K Group, approached them with his fiancee and said, “It’s our honor to cooperate with the Crawford Group, Mr. Crawford. May both of us benefit from the CCU Project!”

Ben smiled slightly and toasted, “So do I.”

They drained all the wine in the grass, and then, Simon turned his gaze to Claudia and said, “Behind every successful man there is a woman who supports him fully. Mrs. Crawford must have helped you a lot!”

Claudia smiled and shook her head.

“Though Mrs. Crawford can’t speak, I can tell she is an excellent woman,” Christine said.

She was really flattered and felt shy about the compliance.

But all of a sudden, Ben held her in his long arms intimately and said, “Exactly, Christine. Claudia is tongueless, but she has been giving continuous care and encouragement to me.”

Hearing his warm voice, she raised her head to look at him surprisingly. He held Claudia’s thin waist and had a deep feeling in his eyes, “She means so much to me, or rather, she is everything to me.”

When Claudia was drowned in his love, Ben lowered his head and kissed Claudia on her lips.

She was stuck. What was going on?

She felt like she was paralyzed and could hardly think until his kiss was over.

Unlike Claudia, Ben curled the corner of his lips calmly and turned to look at Simon, “Thanks to her that I can win this project.”

Claudia was confused once again.

What was that mean?

She looked at him staggeringly. Did he know she was Miss S, and everything was under her control?

Impossible!

Though Scott knew about this, Ben never paid attention to her. How did he know that?

Was she thinking too much?!

She was trying to calm herself down, and in fact, she was thinking too much.

After Simon made some compliance to him and walked away with Christine, he turned back to that cold expression immediately.

As cold and gloomy as he had used to be.

He was just playacting!

She sighed in disappointment and raised her head, drinking every drop of wine in her glass.

There were pretty Asian bosses at the party. They all went to propose a toast to Ben and talked about how much they envied him. Claudia was upset and slipped away when Ben was focusing on having a conversation with them.

She stepped to the buffet area, but Ben’s reaction made her lose her appetite. So she took a piece of cake, cut it into small pieces, and ate it, like a robot executing the instruction.

“The relationship between you and Mr. Crawford was not as good as it seems, right, Mrs. Crawford?”

The voice of a lady coming from her behind surprised her. She turned around and saw Christine.
