A Vengeful Girl novel Chapter 131

Consumed with thoughts about what had just happened, Robert retrieved his cellphone from his pocket and called his secretary.

One ring later, his secretary's voice was on the other end "Any orders, Mr. Huo?"

"Prepare a CV for me. As soon as possible." Clear and concise, he had no time to waste. He cut the call and placed his cellphone back in his pocket, and continued driving.

When Robert entered the house and changed his shoes, Adam was sitting in front of the TV, watching news. Robert sighed with resignation "Adam has become a couch potato recently. His attention fixated on the news for hours on end." He murmured to himself.

Robert understood his pain, but he couldn't do anything to help Adam.

His eye was damaged due to high concentration sulfuric acid and the doctors said he would not recover. At that time, he almost lost his life.

Hearing the door open, Adam looked up and a smile formed on his face. "Robert, you're back." Even his bad eye showed his tenderness.

"Yes." Robert nodded, reciprocating the smile.

"Why have you come back home so early? Weren't you supposed to have lunch with her?"

"Forget it." Robert's expression changed drastically. Why did he have to bring her up? He thought to himself, taking off his coat and approaching the sofa where Adam had sat.

Sitting beside him, he responded, "Her fiancé took her away right after we had ordered." His voice dripped with sadness.

A flash of evilness flashed across Adam's eyes, oblivious to Robert's tone. "Then I'll tie her back and send her to you as a birthday gift."

Although Robert was moved that Adam remembered his birthday was in a couple of days, he was amused by his words. Turning to look at Adam, he responded, "What are you thinking about, huh?"

"I want to help you get the girl."

Adam raised his head, looking at Robert innocently. Their eyes met for a brief second before Robert broke off the contact.

His lips twitched, as he attempted to suppress the truth; that she loved her fiancé, Charles Mu. Robert didn't want to mention Charles because he wasn't sure how Adam would react. He didn't want him to relive that trauma.

He patted Adam on his head and remained silent. "Well, are you hungry now, Robert? Alice Mei has already prepared lunch; you can go have some in the kitchen. I think I'll go take a nap."

Said Adam, rubbing his eyes.

Robert nodded. "Okay."

Adam left the living room for his bedroom and closed the door gently, leaving Robert to his thoughts.

Robert's hunger had dissipated?after the incident at the restaurant.

After Charles Mu took Linda away, he paid the bill disappointedly and went home without eating. It was only until Adam reminded him that he felt the pang of hunger. He could hear his empty stomach rumbling.

"Lets see what Alice Mei has cooked for lunch." He said, standing up from the sofa and heading to the kitchen.

When he walked into the kitchen, he found Alice Mei cleaning. She smiled and said, "Are you hungry, Young Master?"

"Yeah. Is there anything to eat?" Robert asked, clutching his stomach to stifle the grumbling noises.

Alice Mei set the table for him quickly. "I thought you'd eat out, so I didn't prepare your favourite dishes. Please don't mind. I'll prepare your favourite dishes for dinner if you are staying at home."

Robert smiled, "That's okay. Then I'll stay and wait for the feast." Not sure if he would last that long. "Okay. But I don't know why Master Adam didn't each much today. I'm afraid that he may get hungry later on."

Said Alice Mei worriedly.

"Adam has been on that sofa watching TV the whole morning. He?didn't even change channels. When I asked about lunch, he said he wasn't hungry." She continued.

Robert could sense the anxious undertones in her voice and frowned. Although Adam was well behaved in front of him, and didn't show any negative emotion, Robert sensed that he was unhappy inside.?

But, how could he refuse to have lunch?

"Okay Alice. Thank you for telling me. Let me go get him, he needs to eat lunch." Turning on his heels, Robert headed to Adam's bedroom.

Knocking gently on his door, Robert called out "Adam, are you awake?"

There was no response. So he knocked harder. "Adam?

Please eat something first before you take a nap. Anna Mei says you haven't eaten anything all day."

Adam didn't answer him.

Was he sleeping?

Robert knew that Adam was a light sleeper, but decided to return to the kitchen anyway. His hunger was too much and he couldn't wait until dinnertime. He would have some lunch. When he came back and knocked on the door for the second time, Adam responded to him, "Leave me alone, I'm sleeping."?Robert was taken aback as he hadn't expected a response. "But, you've not eaten the whole day? Aren't...." Before Robert could respond, Adam interjected "Go away!"

Robert felt a little strange. But he didn't give it a second thought and went back to have his lunch.

Maybe he was too tired to wake up.

After lunch, Robert rushed back to work. His parents were travelling, and he was left with the responsibility of conducting company affairs. Therefore, he had to?handle?some important tasks before he could leave for teaching.

Inside the dim room, the candlelight was flickering and a beam of sunlight filtered through the gap in the thick curtain.

A good show was coming...

Lisa, with a fox-ear-like hair accessory, looked beautiful under the dim light.

Adam was sitting on a chair beside her and smiled gently. "You're good. It's been one hour."

Though Lisa was more than exhausted, with both of her legs trembling, she dared not show her impatience. She couldn't. Instead, she replied to him enchantedly, "It's my pleasure, master."

She knew the only way to avoid suffering was to please him completely. She believed she would escape and she swore to denounce him when she made it! A trace of coldness flashed in Adam's eyes when she thought of her resolution. It was as if he could read her mind.

Wanted to escape? Wanted to kill him?

"I feel that there is something missing. Something that will enhance your beauty."

Said Adam, moving closer to her and pinching her chin. "Do it as you please, master."

"Well? Is that so?" Adam smiled and let go of her chin. Then he took out an awl, with a foxtail hanging on one end.Lisa Xia's heart sank and she began to panic.
