Doted On By The Mafia Boss novel Chapter 19

The next day when he came to work he was a bit shocked to discover the usually punctual Bee was nowhere to be seen and like every day was not waiting for him. He was a bit unsettled at first but decided not to worry and started cleaning up, maybe she was sleeping a little too long today.

Uneasy was when he felt when she didn’t show up when the work was officially started. When the woman working in there came down in their suave self he inquired if they saw her. They replied that they failed to notice her and have not seen her since last night. Thanking them the man ran up to the room where she stayed; the door was locked.

She wasn’t even home!

Where could she be? Vaguely tensed he went back and started asking everyone if they have seen her; everyone’s reply was the same- they had not heard from her since last night. His eyebrows involuntarily frowned; Bee was not someone who would go out alone and even if she did she would have informed someone for sure. Her disappearing without a trace from the face of Earth was both fishy and matter of worry for him.

He convinced himself to wait a bit more but as soon as evening struck and people started to brim the place he left his station and dashed to the owner of the club to report that she was missing. Now, the news was spread that Little Bee was lost and everyone did their best to trace her but to no avail. She was to be found nowhere.

Arthur even filed a complaint to the cops but the investigation saw no hopes either. All he was told that she might have got abducted by some mob as it was really common for young girls like her to be taken away just like that. It was even hard to determine if she was even alive.

New Orleans was infamous for gang activities and people saw it as no big deal; the owner of the club showed no sympathy for her- he was used to such situations of missing people; the only regret he had was that his bucks were wasted on her. Her colleagues did show a little concern for the little soul but everything went back to normal the next day itself. Her room was cleaned off and her stuffs taken away by others; it felt as if there was no person called Bee living with them like three days ago.

Arthur remained dull and refused to believe that she was gone; he was willing to wait for her to return as he believed she won’t be gone for too long. Even after being told to give up he stubbornly held onto his hope.

He looked at the corner seat where she was seated the first day they met, it was occupied by some couple who were actively making out. Something pricked his eyes as he blinked away the tears that were threatening to fall.

He looked up at the disco ball which was rotating mindlessly, making the room livelier and sighed, “Bee, I miss you! Please come back soon.”

...

Back at home, Bee dozed off again on the sofa and was plunged awaken when she heard the roaring of the motors outside the house. She rubbed her eyes and was in a daze until she heard the mild cacophony of familiar voices. She jumped down the sofa and ran up to the door in hopes of finding the man but she was greeted by everyone else than him.

Rose was the last to enter the house, looking at the girl waiting at the door she removed her jacket asking, “Hey, what’s up?” Bee smiled before looking behind her, discovering that no one else was left out she was a bit disappointed.

Seeing her expressions diffuse into that of disappointment Rose bent down and asked, “What is it? You look sad...”

“Ryan?” Bee uttered a single name and Rose understood what she was up to. Rose threw her jacket aside and replied, “Oh, Boss? He won’t be back for some days.” Bee furrowed her eyebrows and asked, “Why? Is he alright?”

Rose nodded, “Ahh... Our boss is alright! He just had to head to Houston due to some urgent work.”

Houston? That was really far; why would he leave all of a sudden? Bee bit on her lips and chased after the tired woman who was making her way to her room, “When will he come back?”

“Maybe in a week!”

“He would be gone for that long... He failed to mention that.” Bee had never been this disappointed in her life, it was more painful than buying a candy and realizing it was an empty packet. Rose smirked, “Why? You are already missing him?”

Bee flushed red as she waved her hand, “No! I am just worried...” Rose smiled before waving the girl a good night and disappearing into her room.

After dinner Bee ran back to her room and looked at the road through her window; she was foolishly waiting for him to return even though she knew that he won’t be back tonight. She picked up a white bunny which was her current favourite plushie, hugging it to her neck she asked, “Bunny, do you he will come back?”

Days went just like that and nothing worthy of mentioning unfolded in these days. She did nothing more than eating and sleeping for the past few days. Every time anyone gets a call she would run up to them hoping that it was him calling but every time she got nothing but severe disappointments.

The first time he heard from him after he went away was two days later; Jack was reading out some instructions to the maid when Bee was passing by. Hearing the maid respectfully address the other party as ‘sir’ she assumed that it was Ryan.

A big smile came on her face as she jumped up to her and whispered, “Is it Ryan?” The maid nodded a no and continued talking but the Ryan, who was working on his laptop right next to Jack and had really sharp ears, caught tinge of Bee’s melodious voice.

He looked at Jack and asked him to hand over the phone to him with a poker face. The assistant nodded before notifying the maid and giving him the phone.

“Phone to Bee.” He said blandly; the maid obediently nodded before giving the receiver to Bee, “Miss, it’s Young Master.”
