Ex-husband's Sweet Trap novel Chapter 54

"Speed up, we'll get in trouble if the police get reinforcements." The scarred man said.

The car sped up, just as he had instructed, making Luz feel nauseous.

Luz looked out of the window in a panic and found that she did not recognize the surroundings at all. The road they were on was in a rural area, with just empty land around and no hope of help apart from the other cars driving on the same road.

She exchanged glances with Mia and felt even more hopeless. It was clear that Mia did not know where they were taking them either.

She couldn't help but panic. They were kidnapped, taken as hostages by these drug dealers. However slim the chances of this happening was, they were unlucky enough to be the victims.

She couldn't help but think of the kidnapping cases she had seen on TV before. What would happen to Logan if she was killed?

Thinking of her son, Luz forced herself to calm down. If she just waited for the police to save her, they might not get here in time.

Mia was also relatively calm. She knew that her colleague would report their disappearance as soon as they realised that they did not go back. It was just a matter of whether the North City police force was competent enough to find them.

Their eyes met again, and they saw the same thought in each other's eyes. They had to save themselves.

It was better to rely on yourself than on others.

But it was easier said than done. They were both tied up. Even though their bonds were not tight, it was still enough to stop them from getting free.

Luz ran her eyes around the car to see if there were any tools that could help them free themselves, but there was nothing.

Just as she was feeling disappointed, she glimpsed a sack of flour at the back of the van. An idea popped into her head suddenly. The four must be how the drug dealers smuggled their drugs around. As long as they did not encounter a police dog, the drugs would be perfectly concealed within the flour.

Mia also saw the bag of flour. She immediately got the same either. They could use the flour to signal for help from the cars behind them.

But how would they get the flour out?

Luz slammed her back into the opening of the boot as hard as she could. The van was old, so the cover popped open a little, leaving a tiny crack.

"B*tch, what are you doing?"

The drug dealer in front of her roared. She immediately screamed, acting like a woman scared out of her wits.

"Be quiet."

He would have kicked her if he wasn't sitting in the front and couldn't reach back.

"Boss, should we..."

Hearing this, Luz and Mia became more vigilant and worried. Were they already thinking about killing them so soon? Their hearts were beating wildly. It might be better if they decided to r*pe them instead, at least they could still have more time to get help.

"Leave them. Boss will send a helicopter for us in a while. If the police catch up, at least we can use them as hostage in the negotiations."

"Good thinking, boss."

The man said flatteringly and then glared at the two women behind. "Behave yourselves, or I'll make you suffer!"

Luz and Mia's hearts settled back into their chests. They exchanged a glance. Mia shifted her body a little so that she was blocking the view from the rearview mirror, while Luz scuttled over to the sack of flour.

She wondered if the flour would be blown away by the slipstream.
