Chapter 387

Aria

“And this is why I’ve decided we need someone for the tech, someone to drive the truck, someone to go. over the numbers, and three people-obviously you and me, to go to the auction,” I shared my conclusion. I turned to Vince, who was watching me attentively, taking in every word.

No words left his mouth.

“What do you think?” I asked, awaiting his answer.

“I think your brains must be hurting from planning it all out,” Vince joked..

I chuckled nervously. Planning did have a way of making my head spin, but I enjoyed doing it. Better yet, I already had my whole life planned out, including this very moment.

“I think it’s a good idea,” Vince admitted. “I just don’t know where we can find more people from the outside who aren’t afraid to work against the Lambertis. He furrowed his brows, deep in thought.

I thought about the first person qualified for the job to drive the truck. Angelo.

He was trustworthy, on my side, and as a Marino, knew his way around the business.

Vince didn’t really like him, especially not after the whole necklace situation-but there was no better option than him.

“What is it?” Vince blinked, noticing my lack of words.

“I know you’re not a fan of him,” I began as Vince was already shaking his head in disapproval.

“I already let him stay in my house because you’re my wife and your family requested it, but that’s as far as I’ll go.” His tone was firm.

“But he would be the best option to drive the truck with the weapons. He knows all the roads, knows all the routes to stay away from the Lambertis, and I trust him,” I quickly countered, not giving him any chance to interrupt me. “He works for me.”

Vince’s face disappeared behind his hands, and a deep breath left his lips. “For some reason, I think I’ll regret this,” he said, looking at me through his fingers.

“I promise you won’t,” I assured him, treating him with a bright smile. “I got it all under control. Trust me.”

“Okay,” Vince simply nodded. “If you say so.”

“Okay.”

“I know someone good with numbers,” Vince mentioned. “He’s trustworthy, won’t betray me, and has every reason not to fear the Lambertis,”

“That’s great. We’ll take him,” I said eagerly, showing him I trusted him more than he could ever trust me. “That doesn’t mean he’ll do it. He lives in Miami, so I’ll have to convince him first,” Vince spoke. “Christian is his godbrother, his father is a cartel boss-he doesn’t really have anything to do with his family, but he knows his way around.”

“That’s good!” My eyes widened at the idea of turning one of Christian’s own people against him. “What’s his name?”

“Tiago Castillo.”

“Perfect,” I immediately wrote down the name. “You should invite him to stay over soon so we can convince him!”

“That leaves us with two more people,” Vince spoke. “I have very good reason to believe that Isobel won’t say no to joining us for the auction,” he spoke. “She’s really good at selling stories. She sold Beau the story that she’s completely not insane and even got him to marry her.”

I laughed at his joke, but just as quickly I was taken aback, realizing where he was getting at. He wanted to recruit not only the daughter of the Lamberti’s business partner but also the mother of two children carrying the Alfonzo name.
