Nephilim and the Nun novel Chapter 18

Quinn:

The chirping of the morning birds roused me from my peaceful sleep. Stretching my limbs on the bed, I climbed out and pulled on my sweatpants from the night before. I did my usual routine of cleaning up and then, my morning exercise. Thereafter, I moved to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee to start the new day with.

While I was brewing the coffee with the coffee maker, my ears picked up the even heartbeats of a human. They were so loud that they could easily pass for mine.

Whoever it was, was very close by. Taking the mug filled with coffee from the coffee maker, I added sugar and cream and took a sip, while still listening to the heartbeats as they got louder.

Someone was approaching the cabin.

With the intention of not wanting to get caught unawares by whoever it might be, I strode to the living room, peeping out the open windows but my eyes landed on no one. Yet, the sounds of the heartbeat got louder. Apart from the heartbeats, my ears also picked up the almost silent footsteps of the intruder.

Marching to the front door, I yanked it open just in time to see the nun, standing there, hands clasped in front of her, eyes staring into mine like a child caught stealing candy.

She was still dressed in my clothes from the previous day.

I stood by the doorpost, leaning against it, a smirk gracing my lips.

"Forgot something?". I asked, arching one of my brows.

"Yes". She replied, rolling her eyes. "I forget to take my life and your advice seriously".

Of course, she came back with her smart mouth.

"Too late then". I turned to walk away, meaning to slam the door against her but she reached out to grab my hand, stopping me.

"I… I'm sorry I'm…"

"Acting like a brat?". I completed for her, turning back to stare at her.

"I don't want to get killed by Elliott. Please let me stay here till I can find a way to sort myself out".

She started at me with pleading eyes.

That was my chance. She was the last piece to complete my perfect plan against the priest and Gonzalez.

"Fine".

The sober expression on her face gradually morphed to gratitude but I wasn't done.

"On one condition". I smirked.

Her eyes narrowed down at mine.

My gaze wandered down her body, stopping at her generous titts before continuing their journey down. I wanted more than one condition.

One will have to do for now. My subconscious advised.

"You'll tell me everything about you and why Elliott wants you dead". I started when my eyes finally returned to hers.
