Nephilim and the Nun novel Chapter 28

Rhea:

I woke up to an empty bed. The rays of light streaming through the windows landed on my eyes that were opened. I squinted my eyes to get used to the light. Stretching my limbs on the bed, my mind traveled to the incidents of the night before.

Mom.

He didn't let me see her. She must be so heartbroken thinking I'm dead.

Tears filled my eyes at the thought. I wiped them away before they could fall from my eyes.

I stayed in bed, thoughts of my mom consuming me. I had no intention to start the day till my stomach rumbled. Hunger slammed into me, making me groan.

Climbing out of bed, I trudged into the bathroom to clean up. Thereafter, I strutted into the kitchen to see Quinn beside the stove. He was cooking, covered in sweats and an apron.

The simple sight should be illegal.

He must have heard my footsteps because he turned to me, giving me his full attention. Though his naked torso was covered in an apron, it wasn't wide enough to cover his pectorals.

The man put all Greek gods to shame with his extremely good looks. I couldn't resist him when he looked like he was as sexy as hell.

Deep down, I knew it would burn me but he was unavoidable

My eyes zeroed in on his nipples that slipped out of the apron. I licked my suddenly dried lips, wanting to flick my tongue against the flat buds.

"You know what to do baby"

Even before I looked at him, I heard the smirk dripping from his words. When my eyes landed on him, they were gleaming with amusement and mischief. The short length of his dirty blonde hair gave him a boyish appearance, though nothing was boyish about the 7 ft man towering above me.

Ignoring his comment, I walked towards the coffee maker to get a mug of coffee. I expected him to return to his cooking instead, I felt strong arms wrap around my waist, pulling me into a hard chest. He rested his head on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry but I can't let you harm yourself. I did it to keep you safe" he said, realizing a breath.

My shoulders slumped in defeat. I knew he was right but I just couldn't take not being able to see mom when I was so close to her.

"Rhea…" He called in a soft voice, waiting for an answer.

"I understand your reasons" I finally spoke.

He spun me around to face him, staring into my eyes. Yet, his hands never left my waist. His hand on my waist was stirring up feelings I didn't want and couldn't have. Yet my body craved them.
