Reborn Through Fire (Kisa and Gilbert) novel Chapter 281

Chapter 281 Suspecting She Forgot to Close the Door Before Going to Bed

The woman with bruises on her face was twisting her fingers. Jensen looked at her and chuckled. “Don’t be nervous. Since you are Kisa’s friend, you are mine, too.”

“T-Thank you, Mr. Kooper.”

“No need to be so formal. Feel free to call me Jensen,

as Kisa does.”

“Okay, Jensen,” Lea said, looking less nervous than she had just been.

Jensen scanned her with a smile. “How did you end up waitressing at the party yesterday?”

“I…” Lea tensed up again.

Kisa brought out the finished dishes and could not help but laugh at the scene. “Jensen, don’t be so serious with her. She will be scared.”

Jensen smiled helplessly. “I’m serious?”

“No, no, no, Mr. Kooper…”

“Hmm?”

“I mean Jensen.” Lea changed her tone in a panic. “Y- You are not serious at all.” She could not even speak properly because she was nervous.

Kisa brought them both over to the dining table with amusement and said to Jensen, “Lea used to take part -time jobs to supplement her income. I think a friend of hers must have introduced her to waitress at the

party yesterday.”

Lea nodded her head. “Yeah, yeah. My friend said there was a recruitment for temporary waitstaff, so I signed up for it.”

“Thanks to Lea yesterday. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had any evidence against Carolyn and Sharon.”

Lea smiled coyly. “I wasn’t of much help, mainly because I didn’t know at first that the person they were going to target was you. Otherwise, I would have warned you in advance. Good thing you are okay.”

“Lea was implicated because of this incident. So Jensen, I’m thinking of hiring her as my assistant and bringing her to stay with me.”

“Hiring her as your assistant?”

Lea thought Jensen would not agree and quickly shook her head. “No, no. I’m just a beer girl. How can I be the assistant for a superstar?”

“Lea, don’t talk about yourself like that,” Kisa said, looking at Jensen inquisitively.

Jensen smiled. “It is great. I will be relieved to have someone taking care of you.”

Kisa looked happily at Lea, who pursed her lips and bowed her head. Jensen leaned back in his chair and looked at her quietly for a long while, then

straightened up and smiled. “Well, let’s dig in. The food is getting cold.”

Kisa nodded, then Kohen came to mind all of a

sudden. “I also owe it to Kohen. How about we treat him to a meal tonight?”

“He has gone back.”

Kisa was stunned. “Is it that urgent?”

Jensen smiled, seeming gloating. “His family has arranged a marriage for him; it is a village girl. With his arrogant nature, I think he will have to suffer this time.”

Kisa secretly sighed. She could not associate a village girl with a ruthless elite like Kohen.

In the night, Kisa was thirsty and got up to get some water when she suddenly noticed that the door was ajar. She was stunned and wondered if she had

forgotten to close the door before she went to bed. Kisa walked over with her glass of water and was about to close the door when a figure suddenly appeared in the doorway, startling her. She looked closer and saw that it was Lea.

“W-Why are you coming back from the outside?”

“This is my first time staying in such an upscale place. I guess I haven’t got used to it and couldn’t sleep at night. so I went downstairs to have a look around.”

Kisa did not give it a second thought, but nodded. “I will show you around in the next two days. I won’t have much time when The Legend of Luna starts shooting. As for the matter of you being my assistant, you…”

“I just thought about it for a long time outside and decided that I’d better be your assistant. I’m grateful that you don’t find me embarrassing. So I should cherish this opportunity.”

Kisa took her hand in hers with amusement. “How could I find you embarrassing? We’re good friends.”

Lea nodded her head vigorously. “Don’t worry, Kisa. I will do this job well.”

The door across the hallway opened slowly as they

entered the house and closed the door.
