Second Marriage novel Chapter 243

Charlotte came to her senses and held on to the cabinet beside her, trying to calm herself down.

"I'm fine."

"But you don't look very well. Shall I make a call for you?"

Charlotte didn't answer. She took a deep breath and calmed her mood. After a while, she looked up and smiled at the sales with a far-fetched smile.

After that, Charlotte left the jewelry store in the worried eyes of the sales.

All the way, Charlotte walked aimlessly forward. She did not know what was in front of her.

Before coming to this jewelry store, she had been trying to comfort herself, convince herself, that pair of earrings was just the same style, otherwise it would not be so coincidental to hang up Diana's ear.

She even dared not to ask for proof, but she still came. After getting the results, she found that she could not accept it.

He said he had a meeting, so he asked Nathan to send her home. But he left the meeting room and did not come back home for a night. And today Diana was wearing the pair of earrings appeared in front of her.

What did that mean?

Charlotte stopped walking --

That meant they were together yesterday, all day and all night.

‘Charlotte, you had been waiting for him for a whole night, are you a fool?’

‘You were worried about Kennedy and even called Nathan.’

Nathan wanted to tell her about this, right? No wonder he looked at her with such pity in his eyes!

Only she was kept in the dark.

"Liar." Charlotte scolded in a low voice and stumbled forward.

Bang!

Accidentally she bumped into someone's arms.

"Walk without eyes? Would you believe me to kill you? Get out of here."

Someone walked away from her, swearing. Charlotte didn't see who it was, nor did she apologize.

She staggered on, bumped into another after a few steps, but this time she had bad luck and knocked herself down and sat on the cold, hard floor.

"What's wrong with you? Why did you bump into me? What are you doing sitting there? You're not trying to cheat me of money, are you?" The man left quickly, fearing that she might blackmail him.

She sat on the floor for some time and tried to get up, but found that she had no strength in her body.

Charlotte became very angry, but it was a trivial matter. Was it worth letting her so out of her mind?

‘Charlotte, you could stand up when your parents were cruelly pushing you out, when you divorced Aldrich, and you can still stand up now...’

She pushed the floor hard to get up, but a pair of warm hands suddenly caught her arms and helped her to her feet.

In hazy, Charlotte saw a tall and thin figure standing in the front of her.

He stretched out his hand and dabbed at the corner of her eyes, and then her tears gushed out. Her hazy eyes gradually became clear. Charlotte saw clearly the person who was wiping her tears.

Manfred looked at her with pity, wiped her tears from her eyes gently and helplessly sighed.

“Silly girl, he can't see you crying like this.”

Charlotte's tears burst out at once.

Her tears kept falling down. At the beginning Manfred could calmly wiped for her, but there were more and more tears. He felt distressed for her and suddenly stretched out his hand to pull her into his arms.

"Leave him." He pressed the back of her head and pressed her cheek against his breast.

His shirt was warm and wet from the tears.

"If it was me, I will not let you alone cry so sadly. Charlotte, give me a chance, for once."

Charlotte was pulled into his arms. His strange breath made her resist, but she wanted that warm feeling. She felt that she was really tired, and had no strength. She could not resist such a warm embrace.

People came and went on the street. Manfred was holding Charlotte, regardless of other people’s strange eyes.

After a while, the person in the arms suddenly had no response. Manfred pushed her away, only to find that she closed her eyes, as if fainting.

His face changed. He held her cross up and quickly left the place.

*

A thunderbolt rang. The sky with countless dark clouds finally began to rain heavily, accompanied by lightning, almost cut through half the sky.

Several thunder continuously sounded. Charlotte woke up from the bed. She looked around and found herself lying in the warm ward, no longer a busy street.

“You are up?” A warm and moist voice was sounded. Charlotte looked along the sound and found Manfred sitting in front of her hospital bed. He mildly looked at her, “Do you feel anything wrong?"

Then he reached over and touched her forehead, as if to test the temperature.

After a while, he didn't seem to be able to do it, so he leaned over and put his head up and felt it with his forehead against hers.

Without warning, warm breath hit on her face. Charlotte saw the handsome outline of Manfred from close, her pupils shrunk.

When she tried to push him away, Manfred had moved away. Then he raised his lip. "The fever has gone, or I'd have been worried about you."

Hearing that, Charlotte said, "I have a fever?"

As soon as she spoke, she realized how hoarse her voice was.

Manfred smiled. He said nothing and got up to pour her a glass of water, and then helped her sit up, “Drink a glass of water to moisten your voice, drink and then speak."

Her voice was dry and hoarse. Naturally, Charlotte did not refuse. She got up and took the glass and drank it up.

"Don't worry, drink slowly, or you will choke."

When she finished drinking the water, Manfred took the glass. And the other hand reached her lips to wipe the water stains.

The intimate gesture made Charlotte frown and then subconsciously she tried to avoid his touch.

But Manfred was so fast that she didn't have time to avoid or push him away.

"You do have a fever, and a bad one; the doctor said you have a cold. Charlotte, you are too weak. You may have to stay in hospital for a few days."

Hearing to be hospitalized, Charlotte's face changed, "I don't want to be hospitalized."

She didn't like the hospital. She didn't want to stay here.

Hearing that, Manfred seriously stared at her, “You should be hospitalized, your physical quality is very poor, and...I heard from the doctor that you are pregnant."

Hearing this, Charlotte was stunned and stared at him with big eyes.

For an instant, mixed feelings from the bottom of her heart came upon her, almost choking her.
