Sweet Wife in Hidden Marriage novel Chapter 44

Suddenly, he sneered, pushed her arm back, and started the engine while saying, "No need to pay me back, you can invite me for dinner."

Lillian was startled, he was full of ideas, invite him to dinner? Okay, as long as she didn’t owe him.

It was just a coffee shop that can be seen everywhere. It was not spacious, and the decoration was pseudo-artistic.

Archibald frowned and sat on the sofa, which had obviously been sat on by many people, and the surface was a little hairy and there were obvious stains.

Especially when he heard the waiter, "Miss Spencer, this is the C set meal you group purchased. It is ready. I wish you both a happy meal."

Archibald felt awful, he was very unhappy.

"Lillian, how could you invite me to this cheap western food." He said in a cold tone, and it felt that he was about to snap.

Lillian glanced at Archibald who lost his temper for no reason. She knew that people like him would only go to high-class restaurants that specially hire western chefs, but a hundred dollar could only afford a small shop like this.

"I happened to have a dime for this set, let me give it to you." She really searched for it.

Archibald was stunned, feeling that his temples were pulsing. He knew she was using the one hundred dollar to invite him to dinner. How could she be so block-headed?

Suddenly he got up, stepped over the dining table, grabbed her wrist, pulled her up and walked towards the door.

"Hey? Where are you taking me to? The food is ready."

"I won’t eat."

"Why?"

"I don't want to." Anger flashed in his eyes.

"What a waste."

"Lillian."

The car stopped at Oxdrift, Lillian was about to push the door to get off, and said politely, "Thank you for driving me back."

"Lillian, spare your time for me tomorrow night." Archibald said suddenly.

She looked back at him in surprise, "Why?"

"You owe me a dinner." He squinted and smiled.

Lillian’s expression darkened, and she couldn't help wondering if he deliberately skipped that meal tonight? Will he ask her to re-invite him using this excuse again?

"You can go back." He reached out and rubbed her hair naturally.

However, Lillian felt unnatural, she pushed his hands away, and said stiffly, "I see." She opened the door and got out of the car, and walked into Oxdrift without looking back.

Lillian thought that Archibald asked her to treat him the next night, but it was his assistant Kieran who came to pick her up.

The designer helped her put on a light-yellow evening dress, with slanted shoulders and tight waist, revealing her sexy fair shoulders.

Lillian came here to know that Archibald asked her to be his female companion to the charity dinner tonight.

Archibald wore a beige suit, with a clean white shirt. He looked refreshing and handsome.

At the charity dinner, Lillian saw Sebastian and Joanna. She was not surprised, but when Archibald hugged her and walked in, the audience stared at the four of them.

Sebastian's expression was very cold. Joanna looked at them with a soft smile. Archibald was gentle, but she was the only one who forced a smile.

The four people greeted out of politeness, and Archibald took Lillian to the other side. Sebastian looked at them, watching his wife dressed up for another man, it was not a pleasant feeling. He held the wine glass tighter.

"Sebastian, they seem to be a good match." Joanna said softly, with inconspicuous jealousy.

Sebastian pouted without saying a word, and took a sip of his wine silently.

Archibald was chatting with others, Lillian listened quietly, and a cheesy guy walked over.

"Big brother." It was Benedict.

"Benedict? You came too?" Archibald looked at his younger brother.

Benedict nodded and smiled, "Since I am going back to China, I have to attend these dinner parties." He turned and looked at Lillian, who had not spoken. He measured her with his eyes, "This is Lillian? It seems that your relationship is not a rumor."

Lillian recognized Benedict as the man who saw her eating desserts secretly at Douglas Palmer's birthday banquet. She did not expect that he was Archibald's younger brother.

Although the appearance of the two was similar, Benedict's cynicism and overly charming eyes were quite different from Archibald.

"Lillian, this is my younger brother, who has just returned from abroad." Archibald briefly introduced.

She had no favorable impression of Benedict since last time, but she kept smiling, "Hello."

It was strange that Benedict also pretended to meet her for the first time, "Hello."

The charity dinner would start in a while. Archibald was surrounded by senior management. Lillian had no common topics with those people. She found a quiet corner to drink alone, which was low-alcohol red wine.

"Miss Spencer, a guest bought you this fruit wine." A waiter brought a glass of wine.

"Thank you." Lillian took the wine suspiciously. Who bought it? And he knew that she liked fruit wine? She looked at Archibald who was not far away, and he happened to look over and smiled at her.

Was it from Archibald? Lillian was not sure, but took a sip without hesitation. It was not bad.

"Why are you hiding here alone?" A voice came from behind.

When Lillian turned around, Benedict stood behind her with his trademark smile.

"Are you drinking alone now?" He walked over, standing in front of her and looking down at her.

For some reason, as soon as he approached, she had the urge to turn around and leave.

Benedict handed over the wine glass in his hand. It was navy blue, "Have a try. It is the latest. It tastes sweet and the alcohol content is not high."

Lillian looked at the glass and didn't mean to take it.

Seeing her not answering, Benedict smiled with ridicule, "What? Won’t you do me the favor of drinking this?"

Did this mean she had to drink?

Lillian raised the unfinished fruit wine in her hand, "I haven't finished this one yet." She politely refused.

But Benedict didn't seem to understand, he took the fruit wine from her and stuffed his wine into her hand.

"I took this wine as an apology to you last time. I hope you can forget my rudeness." He smiled, although he still seemed cynical, you could see the sincerity in his eyes.

Lillian was annoyed that he had robbed her of her wine. Hearing his words, she understood why he invited her to drink. She looked at the navy-blue wine he had handed over. Although he had different temperament with Archibald. Their work style was very similar. They did things without regard to other people’s feelings, and forced their ideas on others. No wonder they were brothers.

She shook the wine and gulped down with heroic spirit. She raised the glass upside down and said, "I'm done." She returned the glass to him. She took back her fruit wine and walked back into the crowd again.

Benedict glanced at the empty wine glass in his hand, stared at the girl who was walking away, and smiled with great interest. She was indeed interesting.
