The Witches

Chapter 11: Tickets

I took the tickets and looked over at Karan who got dressed again. If I knew we'd fuck again I'd probably not get dressed in the first place.

I greeted him and helped myself out of their huge home. One can tell that they've just moved in because there are unpacked boxes in every room that I've passed. This looks like it will be a very lovely home once they settle in.

I hailed an orb. A pixie picked me up and dropped me off at the front yard of the school. The school day has ended so many teens were hurrying home, I waited on Marisa to show her the tickets. I told her to wait for me because I have something that I want to show her.

I was so excited it felt like I could burst. I took the tickets out of my bag to look at it again. They are so beautiful. Black tickets and the writing looks like real blood. I heard someone gasp as I looked at the tickets and coming my way was Jessica. She was with a friend of hers.

"Oh my god. Bethany, are those tickets to the Horror Ball?"

I grinned and she squeaked. "Get out of here. I'm going too,"

"That's lovely,"

She sighed and looked at me with puppy eyes, "not really. My friend, Mel here couldn't get any tickets and they're sold out already,"

"Dang, that's unfortunate,"

I replied. She nodded her head and placed her hand on my shoulder. "I know. You probably wouldn't but could we have one of yours? I'd make sure that you make the team and we can hang out at the ball?"

She pleaded with those big brown puppy eyes and it cut deep into my soul. I wanted to help her, wanted to hang with her and wanted to make the team so badly. I sighed and gave her a small smile. Going with her would mean I get into the team I've always wanted to be in and on the other hand, Marisa can't offer me anything and at times you have to put yourself first.

"Sure."

I handed her the extra ticket and she squeaked. She reached out, her fingers holding onto the end while I'm holding onto my end but then I realised something. Wouldn't it be a bitch move if I give Jess these tickets? Like whether Marisa comes with or not, I don't care. But I do care about my image and how the world perceives me. So I held it tighter, "on second thoughts," I pulled the ticket back. They slipped out of her fingers, a frown now replaced her fake smile.

Sometimes you got to put yourself first and my image must be squeaky clean.  "I promised these to my friend," it is also very important that my ally can trust me, so when this topic makes it to her ears she should know that I had her back.
