“Did I hurt you?”

When Isobel opened her eyes, she still had not regained her presence of mind from the sudden change in the dream.

She looked at Eduard who was in front of her and gazed at the tea egg holding in his hand. She reacted only after a long time, “No, I just had a nightmare.”

After saying that, she pursed her lips and turned her head to glance at the kettle beside her. She wished to drink some water.

Noticing this, Eduard immediately understood and poured her a glass of water, “You had a nightmare?”

Isobel reached out her hand to take it, “Thank you. Yes, I had a nightmare.”

She lowered her head and when she thought of the dream she had just now, her lips curled into a smile with irony.

After drinking some water, her throat felt better.

Isobel looked up at the infusion bottle which was still half full, and looked at the clock, “I’ll be fine even if I’m alone, Eduard.”

Hearing her words, Eduard raised his eyebrow, “Are you chasing me away?”

Isobel smiled, “I’m sure you know that isn’t what I meant.”

Kit did say that many people were monitoring her during this time. If Eduard accompanied her in the hospital for one night, when she got up in the morning the next day, their names and pictures might appear on the entertainment headlines.

Eduard harrumphed, “What are you afraid of? Both of us are single now, even if our photos are really taken by others, there is nothing they can comment about it.”

Isobel shook her head, “Aren’t you in contact with Bernice recently?”

She had a good relationship with Isobel. So, when she sometimes heard about Eduard’s matter, she would pay attention to it.

“That is what my father wants but I don’t have that kind of idea.”

As he said, he paused for a moment, “Or is it that you still can’t get over the relationship with Hamish so you worry that he will misunderstand?”

When Isobel heard his words, she smiled, “I, Isobel, at least need to have self-esteem and pride.”

Upon hearing her words, Eduard nodded in satisfaction, “Good, it won’t be a problem then. Not to mention, everyone in City N is waiting to see your joke. Are you able to accept willingly what Martha had done to you?”

She was stunned for a moment, “Anything I can do even if I’m reluctant to accept it?”

She had already lost. All she could do now was to make herself lose in a lesser miserable way.

“So you’re giving up on yourself? This is not what Isobel I knew in the past would do. I, being an eligible bachelor, am in front of you. You really don’t want to consider me?”

Isobel wanted to laugh and weep all at once, “Why do you want to get yourself involved in the trouble? Anyway, those gossips will be gone sooner or later.”

Eduard looked at her and smiled, “I’m fed up to see it. When has Isobel ever been bullied like this?”

After hearing his words, her heart sank and she was on the brink of tears.

Yeah, when had she, Isobel, even been bullied like this?

She closed her eyes and controlled her tears from trickling down, “Thank you.”

“Our friendships last more than ten years, you still said thank you to me?”

Isobel turned her head to look at him, “Oh, yeah, you’re right, I shouldn’t.”

Who would have thought that they had known each other since primary school.

Determined, Eduard decided not to leave. Isobel also had no choice as she was really tired and sleepy while being injected with intravenous drips. After talking with Eduard for a while, she fell asleep.

When she woke up, it was dawn.

Isobel moved slightly and found that Eduard was lying asleep on the side of her bed.

She froze for a moment and did not dare to move.

But, Eduard woke up not long after. After she had breakfast and her body temperature was measured to ensure that her body condition was already fine, he drove her home.

After arriving at home, Isobel hit the sack again. When she woke up, her phone was full of work calls.

When she swiped through the moments, as expected, the matter that she was accompanied by Eduard last night was spread widely.

She saw that Martha even purposely posted in moments, giving her a ‘praise’ that had hidden meaning.

She curled her lips. Her cheeks which were hit by Kit last time still felt slightly painful. Isobel made a comment that contained two words and threw her phone aside. She then started to put on makeup before going to the company.

She would let Martha pay her back for what Martha had done to her last night.
