Lenny and Scarlett novel Chapter 58

Tears welled up in Scarlet's eyes.

Losing her virginity, divorce, pregnancy... Since all these things happened, she had endured them silently and hadn't complained to anyone.

She was really fighting her battles alone.

She felt lonely and sometimes helpless. But from now on, Yasmin would be by her side.

"Oh, don't cry."

Feeling sorry for Scarlet, Yasmin wiped her tears and said, "I have done everything I can to help you. You should be careful while living with Lenny and dealing with him every day. Call me if anything happens. Don't bottle up your emotions, okay?"

Scarlet nodded vigorously.

After school, she went back to the villa.

The atmosphere was cold inside, and the house was as silent as a tomb. Everyone was holding their breath. Even Drake felt that he was traipsing on thin ice.

Scarlet had really pissed Lenny off last time.

It was said that Rosaline did attempt to commit suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills. Fortunately, she was found in time and made to vomit the pills out, which thankfully didn't hurt her or her baby.

Lenny would visit her from time to time, but according to the agreement, he couldn't stay with her all night. But the night that Rosaline tried to kill herself was an exception.

Meanwhile, Scarlet went out of her way to avoid Lenny. To make sure that she didn't run into him, she got up earlier than he did and left after eating breakfast in a hurry.

She stayed in the studio and worked overtime and only went home between eleven o'clock to twelve o'clock at night.

On Saturday night, she was so tired that she fell asleep on her desk and lost track of time. When she woke up, it was already half past eleven.

The studio was plunged in darkness.

She tried turning on her laptop, but it didn't boot up. The power was out.

Flustered, Scarlet walked toward the exit. The electronic door didn't respond when she tried to unlock it, and it didn't budge no matter how hard she tried to push it.

"Hello? Is anyone there? I'm still in here! Please let me out!"

At ten o'clock every night, the security guards patrolled the building and turned off the power.

Scarlet always informed the guards when she stayed and worked late, but this time, she wasn't able to because she fell asleep.

She called out for a long time, but nobody answered. Eventually, creepy echoes from the corridor reached her ears.

Scarlet fumbled back to her desk, but she bumped into something and hit her calf, making her cry out in pain.

She quickly turned on her phone. She was about to dial Yasmin's number, but then a call came in from Drake.

She answered immediately.

"Miss Brown, are you coming home yet? Do you need me to pick you up? It's late. It's not safe for you to make your way home alone at this time."

At this moment, Drake was in the villa.

It was almost midnight, but Scarlet still wasn't home. Lenny had already checked his watch several times. He was obviously getting impatient.

He had also checked his phone again and again, waiting for Scarlet to call or send a text message, but there was nothing.

Having served Lenny for many years, Drake naturally knew what he was thinking, so he took the initiative to contact Scarlet.

"I'm still in the studio, Mr. Cooper. I'm trapped..."

Before Scarlet could explain what happened, her phone beeped and died. Her battery had run out of power.

She gritted her teeth in frustration.

Why was she so unlucky tonight?

At this moment, a strange voice came from the corridor. Scarlet couldn't decide if it sounded like the cry of a child or the laughter of a woman.

One of the horror movies she had watched before suddenly came to mind. She was so scared that she trembled and hid under her desk.

Who would save her tonight?

Realizing that Scarlet might be in trouble, Drake knocked on the door and entered Lenny's study.

"Sir, something seems to have happened to Miss Brown."

As soon as Lenny heard his assistant, his heart twitched. "What do you mean? What happened?"

"She told me she was trapped in the studio. Our call got cut off before she could explain. I'm worried about her."

Lenny frowned and hurried out without thinking. He left so suddenly that he forgot to change his slippers.

"Please. I have never done anything bad in my life. Please leave me alone. Please," Scarlet closed her eyes and murmured to herself in fear. Her heart beat wildly against her chest.
