Lenny and Scarlett novel Chapter 60

"Ahem!"

Drake cleared his throat and went back to driving carefully.

The rest of the trip went smoothly, and they were able to arrive at the villa safely. Scarlet didn't notice a detail until she got home.

Lenny had on slippers instead of leather shoes. He didn't wear his usual coat-and-tie ensemble. It was rare to see him go out dressed so simply. Even so, it didn't affect his handsomeness at all.

The well-tailored white shirt matched his good temperament, and his long legs in the suit pants were perfect.

He was tall and slender. A stride of his long legs made a lot of women obsessed with him.

Even though a few of his buttons were undone, it didn't look tasteless.

The man seemed to be aloof and unapproachable all the time.

His manner was distant, and he hid his emotions behind a tall, thick wall of ice.

His mother was so gentle and lively, but he didn't inherit even a drop of her energy.

While Scarlet was lost in her own thoughts, Lenny changed into a clean pair of slippers and started to head upstairs.

Before he could ascend the stairs, he heard the rumbling of Scarlet's stomach.

He immediately ordered the servants to prepare a midnight snack for her and proceeded upstairs without looking back.

Scarlet looked at his broad and strong back that somewhat gave her a sense of security. Her heart skipped a beat for some reason.

All of a sudden, Drake spoke beside her.

"Mr. Foster was very anxious when he found out that you were in trouble earlier. He immediately put aside his work and headed out without grabbing his coat or slipping into his shoes.

He kept urging me to speed up all the way to the studio. He even wanted to take the wheel from me and drive the car himself.

He kept urging me to speed up all the way to the studio. He even wanted to take the wheel from me and drive the car himself.

He might look calm and indifferent now, but you should've seen how worried he was. I think Mr. Foster cares about you. He doesn't really know what he wants, so it's easy for him to make poor decisions.

I'm on your side, Miss Brown. Don't you really want to fight for him?"

"Fight for him? How? I've already lost him when he got Rosaline pregnant and then divorced me for her. Lenny has never shown any interest in anything. At least this time, he really seems to want Rosaline."

"Mr. Foster will regret choosing Miss Marshall over you."

"You're not him. What makes you so sure about that?" Scarlet asked in reply.

For a moment, Drake couldn't answer.

He knew Lenny well, but he didn't know how to explain his view on the matter to Scarlet.

"I'm hungry. Come on. Join me for a midnight snack."

Scarlet smiled and changed the subject. She didn't want to be embarrassed.

Now that things had come to this point, it was best for her to give up on Lenny and hide the child she was carrying from him.

It was the right decision.

Scarlet spent the rest of the weekend relaxing.

She slept in until ten o'clock in the morning and then got out of bed for breakfast. At this time, Lenny must be in his study and busy with his work.

It seemed that he was busy all the time and never took a day off.

Cookies were being baked in the kitchen. The aroma was so good that Scarlet couldn't help going in and having a look.

Having nothing to do, she volunteered to help. She put on an apron, started kneading the flour, mixed the cream, and painted different patterns on the cookies.

Finally, it was time to take the cookies out of the oven. Seeing them, Scarlet was full of satisfaction.

"The cookies look great, Miss Brown. You've done an amazing job," one of the servants praised.

"Let's bake some bread later. There's only a little flour left."

She had been so absorbed with baking that she didn't notice Lenny come in and stand behind her.

The servants looked at one another and then left in tacit agreement.

"Why don't we just make a soufflé?"

When Scarlet turned around to get some seasoning, she was startled to see Lenny.

"What are you doing downstairs?"

"Can't I come downstairs?"

"Of course you can. Would you like to try one of my freshly baked cookies?" She handed a cookie to him.

He hesitated for a moment. Finally, he took the cookie, took a bite, and couldn't help eating one after another.

"I never really pegged you for a dessert person."

Hearing this, Lenny put the cookie down.

"Aren't you going to finish it?" Scarlet asked in confusion.

"I used to like cakes, but my mother told me that desserts were bad for my teeth and forbade me from eating them. So I don't like desserts anymore."

"You say that, but you just ate a lot of cookies."

Lenny was rendered speechless. He cast a cold glance at her.

Scarlet immediately sensed that she hit a nerve with her comment. So she shut up.
